The Fairmont Hotel Vancouver is a grand old hotel in the true sense. Its first incarnation was in 1888 as the ultimate destination for the storied Canadian Pacific Railway in the centre of the Canada's new boomtown. William Cornelius Van Horne rightly thought visitors would need a luxury option when they visited the new boomtown of Vancouver in the wild west. After various reincarnations, the current building's construction was completed in 1939 and it opened its doors to King George VI and Queen Elizabeth! At the time, at 17 stories it was the tallest building in the city! Famous for its green copper roof and its glamorous guests, the hotel even has its own ghost story - the famed "Lady in Red" who is said to haunt the 14th floor.

The hotel is a favorite for brides and grooms who want a classic venue for their wedding. With its grand chandeliers, marble floors, and dramatic staircases, it offers an old-world grandeur unparalleled in Vancouver. Its majestic Pacific Ballroom with its 23-foot ceiling and gold and silver gilded moulding, is a historic location for a couple's historic First Dance! For this couple's First dance, we wanted to accentuate the candle lighting and grandeur of the room. We back-lit the couple with an off-camera flash to give them that glow around them just as they began to dance.
