We love to shoot at the Cape Hotel for its incredible ocean views and distinctively modern Mexican meets 1960's southern California aesthetic. Only a few years old, The Cape Hotel has quickly risen to become one of Cabo San Lucas' top venues for luxury destination weddings. The angles and clean lines throughout the beachfront hotel are one of its main hallmarks.
For this groom portrait image, we used the geometry of the balcony to lead the eye and frame the groom. The triangles and squares created by the shadows and the railings add a dynamism to the image. I like the mood of determination and anticipation in this shot of the groom as he took a moment for himself before he headed down the hotel lobby to meet his bride before the ceremony.
Chris shot this image with the Canon 16-35 wide angle lens, the use of a wider lens to incorporate the natural elements of the ocean, mountains, and rocky coastline within the composition allows us to tell a bit more of the story of this destination wedding than a lens with a narrower field of view would allow for.
