This image has several of the things I love most as a photographer. The warm light of sunset. Strong shadows. A reflection. A sexy red dress. And ..... flounce.
According to dictionary.com, flounce is defined as:
verb (used without object), flounced, flouncing.
1. to go with impatient or impetuous, exaggerated movements
2. to throw the body about spasmodically; flounder.
noun
3. an act or instance of flouncing; a flouncing movement.
I'll be the first to admit that I'm not sure I knew any of this when I was shooting this portrait & called out to our bride Marina: "Just flounce your dress around & have fun!!!!". I'm sure I must have sounded quite foolish, but anything to get the shot, right?
This flouncing gave an otherwise static image a sense of movement and fun, which made it one of my favs from this Saint-Emilion, France pre - wedding portrait session.
Saint-Emilion is one of the most beautiful small towns on the planet, and was recently recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It certainly is one of our favorite wedding photography locations in all of France. St Emilion's proximity to Bordeaux make it a very convenient location as a pre-wedding portrait location or a day after trash-the-dress session for adventurous couples having a Bordeaux wedding.
