The most romantic beach hacienda in Baja Sur, a gorgeous lace Claire Pettibone gown, tons of vintage details, and a couple so kind and thoughtful that I believe they acknowledged every single person at their wedding during their speech (not a dry eye – not even behind the camera!) – those are just a few of the reasons Laura & Mike’s wedding was one of our favorites of 2013.
The Calgary couple chose the unique Todos Santos venue of Villa Santa Cruz for their Mexican wedding celebration with 25 guests from Vancouver, Alberta, and England, all of whom fell in love with the privacy & beauty of this boutique hotel on the beach. Away from the hustle & bustle of Cabo, the setting only emphasized the close intimacy of this wedding where the love of everyone for Laura & Mike was so tangible.
From Laura’s long walk down the 'aisle' over the sand dunes from the villa to the beach, to the couple’s personal vows officiated by Laura’s father as the sun set over the Pacific Ocean, to their joyful dancing with the mariachis and on the dance floor, their day was filled with warmth and love – it was such a pleasure to document it!
We love this image because of the groom's genuine smile, which was the result not of any great humor or joke-telling skills on our part, but by his having clumsily fallen from the hammock and into the sand seconds before we pressed the shutter button.
